Describing to theorize

Abstract:

Description is a fundamental scientific technique for comprehensive (qualitative) research. However, too many descriptions do not play a role in the theorizing process because the exercise is complex and, contrary to what is often thought, sophisticated. This article gives the methodological elements to carry out a description with a theoretical aim: to choose a descriptive point of view which makes it possible to discuss the accepted theories, to articulate several descriptions between them (thus different points of view).

Keywords: Description, theory, compressive research, qualitative research.
