Polytechnique Health Seminar #12: Ensuring the Scaling Up of Digital Innovations
The Polytechnique-Santé group proposes, through a series of seminars, to explore the following question: Will health prevention be algorithmic?
The use of algorithms is part of the medicine of tomorrow, making it more personalized, predictive, participatory, and preventative. In terms of prevention, research projects, experiments, and initiatives have been launched based on this observation in fields as diverse as the occurrence of epidemic crises, personalized monitoring of at-risk individuals, and improving individual behaviors to delay dependency. Promising avenues are emerging at the individual and local levels, as well as at the national and international levels. At the same time, as the subject is relatively recent, several questions remain open. The choice of models and the type of data collected are among them. Similarly, impacts are beginning to be perceived on the type of insurance coverage, economic models, and, more generally, lifestyles that such a development may entail. These impacts deserve to be explored.
Séminaire Polytechnique Santé #12 : Polytechnique Health Seminar #12: Ensuring the Scaling Up of Digital Innovations
The ideas are brilliant, the proofs of concept convincing, the funding rounds successful… but few manage to turn the concept into reality. The transition from a promising solution to large-scale deployment, and finally to a commercially available product, often remains the most challenging phase.
Based on the experience of Volta Medical, presented by one of its co-founders, Théophile Mohr Durdez, this question will be discussed with two leading speakers, recognized for their operational expertise on these issues: Nicolas Castoldi and Professor Patrick Jourdain.
Volta Medical is a Marseille-based MedTech company that develops and markets AI software to assist electrophysiologists in the operating room and improve the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias, which affect between 600,000 and 1 million people in France. Founded in 2016, the company is now present in hospitals across Europe and the United States and continues its international expansion.
👥 With the participation of:
🔹 Théophile Mohr Durdez, co-founder of Volta Medical
🔹 Nicolas Castoldi, Director of innovation at l’AP-HP, Assistance Publique - Hôpitaux de Paris
🔹 Prof patrick Jourdain, Medical Director of Ramsay GDS
🎙️ The debate will be moderated by Professor Etienne Minvielle, Director of the Management Research Centre at École Polytechnique.
