Astérix

Asterix is the routine spectrometer of the ResoMag platform. Equipped with a 16-position sample-changer and a 400 MHz Avance console, it is specially dedicated to proton and Carbon-13 experiments.

This spectrometer is part of the ResoMag platform, the aim of which is to pool the various pieces of equipment from the laboratories belonging to the IP-Paris Department of Chemistry and Processes.

The Bruker 400 MHz 'Asterix' NMR spectrometer is equipped with a 9.4 T magnet, a Bruker AvanceI console and a QNP probe. The Asterix spectrometer is equipped with a 16-position changer that can be controlled by ICON-NMR software: it is mainly intended for routine use. Its specific use is the subject of this short note.

This spectrometer is mainly used for 1H and 13C studies, with the experiments summarised in the table below. The use of the autosampler is compulsory, whatever the period. Other possible nuclei can only be studied with the agreement of a technical manager.

During the week (Monday to Friday), use of the ferry is divided into two periods. The times indicated are subject to change depending on the period, and in particular on the number of users. An information email will then be sent to you by the platform managers.

  • Day period (from Monday to Friday, between 9am and 7pm):

  • Experiment limited to 15 minutes per tube.

  • Thursday mornings (from 9am to 1pm) can be booked for longer experiences. Reservations must be made no later than the day before on simresa (https://simresa.polytechnique.fr). If no booking is made on Wednesday at 2pm, Asterix switches to "daytime routine" mode on Thursday morning.

  • Night period (7pm to 9am, analysis time: 14 hours):

    • Limit of 2 hours of experiments per tube, with a limit of 2 tubes per person, i.e. a maximum of 4 hours per user.

    • The tubes will be programmed and placed on the carousel from 5pm.

    • At the bottom right of the ICON-NMR window, the total time of the experiments programmed for the night is indicated in "Night Experiment": Check that the total duration does not exceed 14 hours.

  • Weekends (Friday 7pm to Monday 9am):
  • All experiments are authorised, particularly long characterisations (NOESY, low-concentration tubes, etc.), taking care not to exceed a total of 62 hours.

NB: The acquisition parameters can be modified by clicking on the 'Par' button for the number of scans (ns) and the lock and shims options. These options are left available, but experiments that are too long will not be accepted. Do not hesitate to discuss with a manager if your project requires a specific use (unstable products, etc.).
