Program M1 at École polytechnique (2024-2025)

This program holds for the academic year 2024-2025.

The academic year is organized in 2 administrative semesters, and the lectures take place in 3 periods (the third period corresponding to the research internship).

The lectures are taught in English. The links below still point to the 2023-2024 courses, but they will be updated as soon as the new links are available.


SEMESTER 1

Elementary particle physics (5 ECTS)
Relativistic fields and their quantization (5 ECTS)

Stellar astrophysics (5 ECTS) [recommended]
Quantum optics: lasers (5 ECTS)
Quantum physics of electrons in solids (5 ECTS)

Training subject (1x5 ECTS - period 1):
Symmetry groups in subatomic physics (5 ECTS) [recommended; mandatory if stellar astrophysics not chosen]
Numerical physics (5 ECTS)
Cosmology (5 ECTS)

Foreign language (2 ECTS - period 1)
French language course for non-French speaking students; or English language

Perturbative quantum field theory (5 ECTS)
Advanced particle physics (5 ECTS)


SEMESTER 2

General relativity (physics) (5 ECTS) [recommended]
