Master HEP

Apply to the joint master

Prerequisites: To be admitted, the candidates must hold a Bachelor degree in physics or an equivalent title. The HEP master is demanding and requires a very good level in quantum mechanics, special relativity, particle physics and electrodynamics.

Teaching language: English (ETH Zürich) and French/English (École polytechnique; see the program page for details).

Venue: Campus of École polytechnique (Palaiseau) or ETH Zürich

How to apply: The applicant must post his/her application on the website of the institution in which he/she wishes to spend his/her first year of the program, either École polytechnique or ETH. The motivation letter and the recommendation letters must be written in English.

ETH Zürich: All necessary information on how to apply can be found at the website of the admissions office. It is important that you apply specifically for this Joint Master program in High Energy Physics, and not for the regular Master program in Physics. This applies also to the internal ETH Bachelor students who have to apply in this manner to be considered for the Joint Master program. Further information regarding immigration, financial matters, housing, scholarships etc, can be found at the Rektorat website.

École polytechnique: One must go to the Institut Polytechnique de Paris.

NB: Students in the second year of the Ingénieur polytechnicien program who would like to get involved in the High-energy physics track for their third year (M1) and who wish to spend their fourth year (M2) at ETH must also apply through the Institut Polytechnique de Paris web site. We will transmit their application to ETH, and they will be notified of the decision before the end of the academic year.

Please check the application deadlines.
