MASTER MECANIQUE OVERVIEW
Master Mention Mécanique
OVERVIEW
Title of the master: Mechanics
Master’s program overview:
The master of mechanics of IP Paris offers a high level research oriented graduate degree program covering a wide range of scientific domains from fundamental to applied mechanics.
The research areas concern smart or multiscale structures, new materials, bio-mechanics, environmental sciences, complex fluids, turbulence, waves and metamaterials for instance.
Graduate level: Master’s degree
Educational objectives
Program structure (liste des parcours year 1 / year 2 / transverse project / Internship):
The aim of this program is to provide a set of general concepts in mechanics as well as the most advanced and recent results of the research in the various domains of the program.
The first year consists in a common program that introduces all the fundamental knowledge and tools, followed by a set of elective classes on the different specialized domains.
The second year focuses on each specialized domain reflecting the most important research areas of the field: biomechanics (‘B’), fluid mechanics (‘F’), solid mechanics (’S’), acoustic/vibrations (‘V’) and environmental sciences (‘W’).
A research project is proposed the first year and excellent opportunities for long-term research internships in the lab are proposed every year.
Transverse PhD targeted individual paths are also proposed, in the framework of this master of mechanics as well as in collaboration with the other master programs of the IP Paris or other institutions. For instance, a PhD track “Mechanics for surgery” is available.
Career prospects:
This program offers the possibility for each student to build her/his own degree providing various attractive opportunities, either in academic or industrial top research laboratories, or directly towards the advanced applicative domains (aerospace, biomedical engineering, energy, environment,…)
