Introduction to the laboratory
The Centre for Theoretical Physics (CPHT) brings together researchers whose work covers a broad spectrum of physics, encompassing both its fundamental and applied aspects.
Its main areas of research include mathematical physics, particle physics, string theory, condensed matter physics and plasma physics.
The CPHT is a joint research unit (UMR 7644) under the joint supervision of the National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) and École Polytechnique. It is affiliated with CNRS Physics and also receives support from the Collège de France, which acts as a secondary supervisory body.
The laboratory is situated on the École polytechnique campus in Palaiseau, spread across Building 6 and Wing 0 of Building 5.
