Mentoring Program: a successful partnership between SOIE and AX
With the presence of François Bouchet (Year of Entry: X86), Director General of École Polytechnique; Yves Demay (Year of Entry: X77), Executive Director of the École Polytechnique Foundation (AX); Papianille Mura, Head of Careers Guidance and Professional Integration (SOIE); and Jacques Defaucheux (Year of Entry: X72), Head of Mentoring at the AX.
A successful partnership between SOIE and AX that allows students, in tandem with young alumni (N+10), to reflect on their choices for their studies and the start of their career. Last night’s event was attended by over 150 students of the X2017 cohort, who came to learn more about the Program from the presentation of our referent coach Nicolas Beaude (Year of Entry: X81), and through speaking directly to mentors present.
After the information session, students, mentors and program officers gathered together to enjoy a cocktail reception in the Salon d’Honneur. This friendly event allowed for rich and encouraging dialogue between all the participants in this second mentoring campaign.
What are the goals of this mentoring?
The program aims to listen to students from the beginning of Year 2 (initial meeting); explore their tastes, aptitudes and personal interests; envisage a plan for their future career; open up their scope of possibilities (professions, sectors, company types); and also help them choose their path at l’X (Year 2 internship, Year 3 specialization, Year 4 options), learn from lessons from experiences in their studies and get to know useful contacts (especially within the l’X community).
