Organic Large Area Electronics (OLAE)
The large area electronics team was initiated in 2003. Its scientific area is centered on Flexible Organic and Large Area Electronics (FOLAE). His creation is first of all, the logical development of the results for many years by the NanoSil team. In fact, the system we wanted to initiate is the result of a combination of several approaches:
The presence in the laboratory of researchers with world recognized expertise in the field on flat panel displays and large-area electronics.
The performance of active silicon materials (microcrystalline, polymorphous...) developed by NanoSil Team.
Finally, the construction of a common cleanroom (operational in late 2005), Ecole Polytechnique/THALES/IOGS.
Another important development of the team is the creation in 2007, shared between CEA and LPICM, of a specific theme and a technology platform on organic electronics. The collaboration formalized and expanded in 2013 by the establishment of a research laboratory partner (LRA) between LPICM and CEA/DSM/IRAMIS. In 2010 2011, three CNRS researchers have chosen to join us on this topic.
Since 2012, the activity on silicon was stopped (this will be discussed in perspective section) and the team decided to focus on organic electronics, which justifies its new appellation: Orgatech.
Orgatech covers the following research topics:
New materials (polymers and molecules) for organic electronic devices (block-copolymers OPV cells, materials with high emission yield and conjugated polymers containing lanthanide OLEDs).
Analytical and behavior modeling of large-area electronics devices (diodes, PV, TFT), defining specific SPICE models for TFTs.
New high performance organic and large area electronic devices: blue OLED on rigid and flexible substrates, micro- cavity OLED (organic to the laser), organic and hybrid solar cells.
Sol-gel approach for producing semiconductor and optical layers.
