The high potential of archaea

Discovered in the late 1970s, archaea are unicellular organisms with characteristics of both bacteria and more complex organisms. Once shunned, advances in molecular biology and genomics have brought them back into the spotlight. Numerous studies are carried out at the Laboratory for Optics and Biosciences.
