The department of computer science of École polytechnique (DIX) is willing to recruit two part-time professors in charge of teaching (professeur chargé de cours¹), one at 25% (annual teaching load of 48h) and the other one at 50% (annual teaching load of 96h).

The candidate should hold a PhD in computer science, have a habilitation degree to advise research or an equivalent level, and show great abilities in teaching and research. He or she should be able to contribute to core computer science courses, as well as to specialized courses closer to his or her research domain, at all levels of DIX curriculums (bachelor, engineer, master, master of science and technology), and by integrating existing teaching teams. In particular, the teaching project, part of the application, should detail the possible contributions to the department, show the ability of the candidate to work in teams and motivation for teaching. Specific pedagogical proposals, showing for instance the candidate’s ability to contribute to ourses with innovative teaching and evaluation methods are welcome. Being fluent in French is a plus, but not mandatory.

Candidates will be evaluated based on their educational skills, their interest in teaching at École polytechnique, and their availability for participating to the educational and research activities of the department. Prior knowledge of the existing course offer, and the organization of teaching will be appreciated.

Applications must be submitted online through the École Polytechnique website by March 15, 2024, and interviews will be planned for the first weeks of May.

1.Part-time professors (professeurs chargés de cours) are researchers or professors willing to combine their main job in public or private institutes or companies with a part-time teaching position at ´Ecole polytechnique. Holding a qualification from the CNU is not required.
