Can I earn a degree online?
No.

Can I enroll in a part-time degree?
All of our Graduate Degrees are full-time programs.

Applications/admissions

When are admissions decisions made?
Decisions will be released 4 to 6 weeks after each application deadline.

I am unable to submit my application? What should I do?
Please contact the Admissions team.

What are my chances of admission?    
We are not able to consider any prospective student for admission until an application and all required documents have been submitted. Please visit our page for a list of required documents.

Can I enter more than one application?
Yes you can, but for each application you need to pay the application fee.
Kindly note that you can only apply for each program once per year. You can apply to a different program. However, you are not allowed to submit another application for a  program which you have already applied to.

How much is the application fee?
You will have to pay 80 euros to submit your application.
If you wish to pay the application fee via a bank transfer, please note that it has to be processed by the bank a few days before the admission deadline.
If the bank transfer is made by a third party (family member, company, etc.) please make sure to inform the Admissions team by sending an email to the Admissions team.

Can I send my application by postal mail?
No paper copies are needed for the admission process. We only accept and will consider online applications.

How long should be my statement of purpose?
No longer than one page.

Do my letters of recommendation need to be submitted by the application deadline?
It is highly recommended you submit them by the application deadline. Only fully completed application files will be examined by the jury.

Is there a profile of the Graduate Degree Program entering class?
Our office does not compile a general entering class profile.

Can I substitute any other test for the TOEFL? Does École Polytechnique accept IELTS?
The only tests we accept are the TOEFL, IELTS and the following Cambridge General English Tests: First (FCE), Advanced (CAE) and Proficiency (CPE).

What are the tests scores requirements?
TOEFL IBT.................................................  90
IELTS..........................................................  6.5
Cambridge Test - First (FCE)............. Grade B – 176

I am a citizen of a country where English is the sole official language of instruction. Am I exempt from submitting TOEFL?
Yes (see conditions in the application file).

For how long are the tests scores valid?
Scores must date no earlier than two years prior to the start of the program.

Do I need to speak French to apply for the programs?
There is no required minimum level in French to be able to apply, but regarding your level (less than B2 according to the CEFRL), you will have to take French classes during the year.

Financial questions

When do I have to pay my tuition fees?
You need to pay your tuition fees by October, 15 2018.

Do I have a tuition fee deposit?
Yes, you need to pay a tuition fee deposit of 1200€.

Are there any student job offers on campus?
The school does not offer on-campus jobs.

Courses

How are courses organized?
Students have class from Monday to Friday and courses include theoretical and practical classes. There are three periods in a school year:
First period from September until December
Second period from January until March
Third period: Internship

Where can I find a detailed list of the courses offered for each of the Graduate Degree program?

When do mid-term and final exams take place?
Exams take place twice a year: mid-December and Mid-March.

Housing

Can I live on campus?
Yes, every Graduate Degree student has a room on campus.

How much is the rent?
The rent is 444€ including charges (water, electricity, internet and housing insurance).

Is there a housing deposit?
We request a housing deposit of 300€ at your arrival.

What should I bring?
We recommend you to bring at least your own sheets and blankets.

What can I do if I’m ill?
You can see a doctor or go to the Health Center on campus.

Graduate Orientation

When and where is Graduate Orientation?
The Graduate Degree Program office holds new graduate student orientation sessions for on-campus students at the start of each fall semester.

Campus Tour

Can I visit École Polytechnique?
