History of the CIMEX
CIMEX (Centre Interdisciplinaire de Microscopie Électronique de l'École polytechnique) was set up in 2010 by four founding laboratories (BIOC, LPICM, LSI and PMC) to meet the electron microscopy needs of the laboratories in Ecole Polytechnique. In 2011, CIMEX and its partners were awarded the TEMPOS (Transmission Electron Microscopy at Palaiseau-Orsay-Saclay) equipment of excellence contract, covering the acquisition and maintenance of several state-of-the-art electron microscopes over the 2011-2019 period. In 2019, the LMS joined CIMEX. In 2021, CIMEX became a “Unité Propre de Service” (UPS) of Ecole Polytechnique. CIMEX is also involved in teaching and training, organizing practical work and workshops in electron microscopy and sample preparation.
