M2 Molecular Chemistry and Interfaces : courses and information

Basic structure

September - December: a mandatory teaching of 27 ECTS structured around 5  modules, plus a literature project to be undertaken in parallel to the courses (3 ECTS). Attendance to a series of seminars given by experts working in academia or in industry in domains related to molecular chemistry. From mid-January or early February until the end of June: an experimental internship project in academia or industry, in France or abroad, in the field of molecular chemistry (30 ECTS).

Module 1 - Organic Chemistry : 6 ECTS (53 hours of courses +tutorial classes to be divided between the courses)

A module on organic synthesis builds on the foundations of the first year of the master program (diastereoselectivity, enantioselectivity, chemistry of the main functional groups and retrosynthesis).

Module 2 - Organometallic Chemistry & Catalysis (6 ECTS) (66 hours of courses +tutorial classes to be divided between the courses)

A module centered on coordination, organometallic chemistry and catalysis that completes the courses in M1 on the same topics.

Module 3 - Supramolecular Chemistry & Macromolecular Chemistry (5 ECTS) (57 hours of courses +tutorial classes to be divided between the courses)

An advanced module centered on the structures and functions of large molecules and assemblies.

Diploma requirements
The 5 chemistry modules, the literature project, and the expiratmental project are compulsory to obtain the International Master in Molecular Chemistry diploma from the University of Paris-Saclay.
