Program Overview

The Bachelor of Science is a three-year Program designed for students with a strong interest for Mathematics and Science. This highly selective and multidisciplinary Program is entirely taught in English.

THREE DOUBLE MAJORS

For three years, our students follow a demanding multidisciplinary scientific curriculum. The first one is dedicated to acquiring the intellectual tools and fundamental knowledge which will be essential for the rest of their higher education, while at the same time discovering and experiencing several disciplines in order to choose the right specialization for them. For their second and third years, students then have to choose between three double majors:

Mathematics and Physics
Mathematics and Computer Science
Mathematics and Economics

Our students benefit from an exceptional learning environment in which they have access to cutting-edge facilities located in École Polytechnique’s Research Center.

SELECTIVITY

Like all of École Polytechnique academic programs, the Bachelor is designed for top level students, with very high potential, capable to follow a rich and demanding curriculum.

During the selection process, our teams seek a demonstration of the skills and aptitude necessary for the successful study of our Bachelor program, such as the ability to think and work indepently, together with the motivation to follow a demanding curriculum. They are looking for qualities such as team spirit, perseverance and dynamism. Succesful candidates should also demonstrate their interest for the program and explain why they believe it is well suited for them.

Our teams will take into account the application file as well as the interviews to make their final assessment.

MULTIDISCIPLINARITY AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

The Bachelor is designed for top-level students with very high potential.

École Polytechnique’s Bachelor of science is a multidisciplinary degree for internationally-oriented students who hold dear the values of excellence, audacity and integrity. They are dedicated and well-rounded individuals, who get involved both inside and outside of class.
During their time in the program, our students develop a strong academic knowledge science, and explore new fields of study such as Humanities and Foreign Languages. The students who get into the Bachelor Program already have a strong background in Science and Mathematics.
In addition to fundamental sciences, our Bachelor students develop the complementary soft skills to round out their knowledge through a variety of courses : humanities, social sciences, languages, innovation management and entrepreneurship, to name a few.
They also practice sports least once a week and get to benefit from the campus’  great facilities.

INTERNATIONAL EXPOSURE

The Bachelor students enjoy a truly international setting. École Polytechnique offers a multicultural environment promoting diversity and nourishing intercultural dialogue.
The study of at least one foreign language is a mandatory part of the curriculum. The possibility for Bachelor students to study abroad during one semester is also offered in third year.

AND AFTER GRADUATION?

The primary purpose of the Bachelor program is to open the doors of various Master’s and graduate degree programs, at École Polytechnique or other major institutions worldwide.
Students receive support and coaching to further pursue their studies in the domains of their dream, such as cryptography, Internet of Things, Big Data, robotics, energy management, nanotechnologies, monetary policy, development economics, business strategy, materials chemistry, biotechnology…
In principle, all double majors offer a core of general mathematics perfectly suited to study Masters in mathematics afterwards.
