Admission process

Only applications coming from one of École Polytechnique's partner universities and/or approved by the student’s home university will be considered. Please contact the Office of International Affairs at your home university to confirm whether your university has established a partnership, or is able to sign a learning agreement with École Polytechnique.

Due to the fact that we cover a large range of scientific disciplines and our classes are taught in small groups, we carry out a dual administrative and academic application process to check students’ eligibility, and ensure that they meet the requirements for their chosen classes.

As such, a committee, set up by an academic coordinator (professor or researcher at École Polytechnique) and the Vice-Presidency for International Relations, assesses applications for the program based on applicants’ academic backgrounds. This committee reserves the right to decide whether to accept applicants, and to make recommendations on their desired study plan.

Once approved, a letter of acceptance is sent by email to the applicants. Applicants are not considered as accepted onto the Program until they have received their official letter of acceptance.

Students who are admitted will receive an admission letter by email. Only students who need to apply for a visa will receive an original copy of their admission letter by express mail.
